Not only will the singer and actress be performing at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC), Ms Prior said she also has plans to get up close and personal with some of the animals at Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
“I went to the zoo last year and fed a lion and it was one of the best experiences so I’m hoping I can feed a lion again. If they’re still there,” she said.
Ms Prior will be performing in Dubbo Friday September 26 as part of her National ‘Songbird’ tour, accompanied by pianist David Cameron.
The show is described by Ms Prior as having “real variety”, containing classical, musical theatre, Celtic and Irish songs and a little bit of opera.
Ms Prior said she will also be chatting with the audience about her 30 years of experience in the theatre.
“I’m an actress and I think that if I just stood there and sang they’d get pretty bored. I like to weave the stories into the songs. It makes it a much more intimate night,” she said.
Ms Prior said last time she played in Dubbo it was gorgeous and praised the DRTCC for their great theatre.
As a seasoned entertainer, Ms Prior said she is used to doing eight shows a week so she said the tour provides a welcome change of pace, allowing her to perform while also having a life off the stage.
“I just love it.”
