A GOOD barrier draw and a step up in distance has trainer Clint Lundholm confident his handy three-year-old Any Blinkin' Day can run a big race in the Sam's Liquid Waste and Hire Class 1 Handicap (1320m) at Dubbo today.

Any Blinkin' Day created a big impression when taking out the Silver Goblet (1120m) back in July before he finished an unlucky fifth behind Sir Ottavio at Narromine on August 17.
The Any Given Saturday (USA) x Mask Cheval was caught wide on that occasion, and was only beaten by two lengths with Lundholm prepared to forgive the performance.
"The other day at Narromine he just had no luck," Lundholm said.
"We told (jockey) Daniel (Northey) to go back from the gate but the way the race was run he still ended up caught wide and in hindsight we probably should have gone forward.
"He was still running on at the end so it was a pretty good effort and I've got no problem backing him up. He's done well since that run."
Lundholm has thought all along the three-year-old would be better when stretched out to a longer trip, and the 1320m distance of today's race should be ideal.
And after drawing barrier two the young trainer is even more positive about his chances.
"It's the first time he's drawn a decent barrier and he's stepping up in distance for the first time too, so he ticks a couple of boxes," Lundholm said.
"From the gate I think he can settle a bit closer to the lead than he has at his two runs, but there's a few in the race that are going well so it won't be easy to win."
Among the runners that appear hardest to beat are the Wayne Martyn-trained Desire and the locally-trained pair of Grass Cutter and Bulwarra Belle.
"Bulwarra Belle has been going well and I think her run the other day at Narromine can be forgiven, and Grass Cutter comes out of the same race and finished second behind one of mine (Sooner Or Later) that goes pretty good.
"I've got a bit of time for Sooner Or Later so based on that Grass Cutter has to be a chance in a race like this."
Today's Dubbo program carries TAB status and will feature nine races, with the first set down for 12.32pm and the last scheduled to be run at 5.12pm.
