In it's 15th year, the day is a brilliant opportunity for some good old fashion family fun, said Cassie Gardner of CareWest Ability Links.
"The theme of the day is sky's the limit, it's about being inclusive for all children," she said.
"It's great for mums, great for dads, great for everybody."
Janelle Burke of Orana Early Childhood Intervention has been involved since the first Kites for Kids at the Early Intervention Centre and says each year about 500 $2 kites are sold.
"It's a great family thing that doesn't cost a lot and it's for a great cause," she said.
"Early intervention awareness is key."
Event organisers are volunteers from local child-related services including Burnside, Buninyong SACC, Cerebral Palsy Alliance, Orana Early Intervention Centre, Northcott, ACTT, ADHC, Orana Heights Early Intervention Service, Centacare and Community Health.
Families were encouraged to buy a $2 kite, decorate it as they please and fly it in the breeze or just sit in the sunshine.
