NBN Co updated its coverage maps last week to show build preparation work was now being carried out in the central business district, central South Dubbo and West Dubbo.
It has also been confirmed by Parkes MP Mark Coulton that the connections will be the preferred fibre-to-the-premises option.
"A fibre-to-the-premises connection will provide fast, reliable broadband for over 760 businesses located in the CBD, creating the opportunity to reliably market and sell products globally, improve operational efficiency and change the way our locally-based enterprises do business in the future," mayor Mathew Dickerson said.
"This is an extremely positive move forward for the city with key educational facilities to be included in the latest roll out, including a primary school, high school and TAFE campus.
"I am thrilled to see well-established areas of Dubbo receive confirmation that build preparation for a fibre-to-the-premises connection to the NBN is under way.
"I will continue pushing for the whole of our city to have access to the NBN as a matter of priority."
NBN Co advises it takes on average 12 months from the start of construction until residents and business owners can access services over the NBN from phone and internet providers.
