The five-year-old daughter of local couple Jane and Angus Diffey lived with the rare neurological disorder Rett Syndrome. She was the inspiration behind Clare's Angels, a charity dedicated to helping local families.
A tribute on the Clare's Angels Facebook page read: "It is with great sadness that we share the news that our darling angel Clare has passed away. We have all been so very blessed to have known and loved Clare and she has touched our lives in countless ways. While Clare may have left us, she stays in our hearts and now has her own set of wings to soar."
Clare's funeral will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church at Dubbo at 10.30am on Saturday.
Clare's family has suggested in lieu of flowers donations could be made to the Australian Rett Syndrome Study and Orana Early Childhood Intervention.
Clare was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome at the age of 18 months. Girls with the condition are lovingly referred to as 'silent angels' because they have difficulty with movements and communicating, hence the name Clare's Angels.
Jane Diffey previously spoke of the enormous assistance Orana Early Childhood Intervention had provided to her family and others.
"They're instrumental in providing care for Dubbo and the western community and provide an inclusive therapy environment," Mrs Diffey said.
"They empower you with the knowledge you need for your child."
Clare's Angels, with the generous backing of local businesses, organised and staged the Angel Ball which raised thousands of dollars for the organisation and for local families of children with disabilities.
