8AM: What made front page across the regional papers today? Here you go ...
7.45AM: Taking a look at your regional and national news this morning:
* Businesses and almost 6000 Bathurst homes were left in darkness by a blackout early yesterday morning. Residents and businesses in Kelso, Raglan and surrounding areas were left in the dark until just after 7am after the blackout struck at 5.40am
* As Ronald McDonald House in Orange nears completion, the facility has also become a legacy for Australian manufacturing. Yesterday, the Canobolas Cottage community board acknowledged Electrolux, which has donated about $200,000 worth of major and smaller household appliances to the facility’s three stages.
* And in National news, she is renowned as one of Australia's best known child stars, but now Kate Ritchie has become a mother herself after giving birth to a baby girl. Ritchie made the announcement on Facebook on Monday afternoon, after giving birth to a daughter in Sydney on Sunday.
* Taking a look at Victoria people who attack and kill others without warning in “one punch” incidents will spend at least a decade behind bars under new Victorian laws. The state government announced the changes on Sunday, with those who punch unsuspecting victims without warning to face a 10 year minimum jail term if convicted.
7.30AM: Are you watching the Today Show this morning? Dubbo is making an appearance!
Weatherman Stevie is at the Zoofari Lodge enjoying this wonderful wet weather.
7.15AM: Taking a look at your local news headlines this morning:
* In Dubbo Ken Piper claims runoff is channelled along an access lane by the design of a nearby intersection and that at times he has "seen a foot of water" flowing.
But Dubbo City Council did not accept Mr Piper's conclusions, saying that an inspection did not indicate the area draining into the lane was "large enough to cause significant flows" and that there were other parts of Brocklehurst that had "much higher priority needs for drainage improvement works".
* More areas of Dubbo are undergoing preparation work for the National Broadband Network including the city's Central Business District and parts of South Dubbo.
* Rural Fire Service (RFS) Far West team manager Chris Favelle has described Daniel Howard as "an absolute gem of a citizen" who was always willing to provide help when anyone needed it.
"He was one of my competitors in the It Takes Two singing fundraiser, he was a real character who gave 100 per cent to everything he did and we really enjoyed that," Superintendent Favelle said.
