Gordon coaches the Dubbo Kangaroos second grade side and heard of his recognition at a special coaching clinic hosted by the Qantas Wallabies as part of their Bush2Bledisloe Tour.
The award shines a light on coaches across the country who sacrifice their time and energy for the good of the game, forming an integral part of grassroots rugby communities.
Nominated by his club, fellow coach Paul Hennock said Gordon was a worthy recipient of the award.
"Vince has a long history of coaching, co-ordinating and managing junior and senior rugby. He lives and breathes rugby and is a great asset not just to our club, but the greater Dubbo rugby community," Hennock said.
On hearing of his nomination, Gordon said it was an honour to be nominated.
"My involvement in rugby has been a great ride, sometimes tough but mostly enjoyable that delivers so many rewarding moments," he said.
"Junior club rugby is so important for the sport's success and survival."
Wallabies players were on hand at the once-in-a-lifetime clinic to help the Dubbo Kangaroos coaching team put 100 players through their paces and acknowledge Gordon's contribution to the club.
"It's great to see Asteron Life recognising the hard work of coaches and helping to highlight the important role they play in our grassroots rugby communities," Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie said.
"Vince is a perfect example of how coaches give up their weekends and nights to make sure the young boys and girls out there who love the game get the opportunity to be the best they can be."
