The Fishies sit three points clear of Wellington at the top of the Group 11 ladder and a win over the Magpies will put them out of the reach of the Cowboys, regardless of the results in next weekend's final round.

While he's happy with the way things are going at his club, Ryan said the focus was just on taking each week as it came.

"We don't talk about those things too much, we're always just trying to win this week's game," he said.

"We don't talk about winning streaks or the minor premiership but we focus on getting the job done."

Forbes tested CYMS last time they met before the Fishies went on to win 17-10 and with the game likely to be played in wet conditions, Ryan said his side is expecting another big test.

"It was very tight last time and they've improved a lot since then, I've been keeping a bit of an eye on them and they're going well," he said.

"The field is pretty good with rain but I'm expecting another good battle."

Luke Jenkins is unavailable for the match while Ainsley Coxsedge and John Grey are both out with injury.

The absentees have caused a reshuffle in the lineup with Alex Ronayne moving from the centres to the second-row while Blake Tremain-Cannon moves from five-eighth into the centres and Ryan comes into the team in the number six jersey.

The match will be Tremain-Cannon's first in the centres this year and Ryan said it was purely because of injuries in other areas.

"We'll just see how it goes this week, he hasn't played there but with the lack of forwards Alex (Ronayne) had to move to the second row," he said.

Ryan said there was a positive and confident feel around the Fishies side at the moment and added the minor premiership would be a good reward for his side's outstanding form.

"It's a big game and there's something to play for so we just need to continue to work hard and have a good attitude," he said.

Forbes are without talented winger David Ivehoe but do possess a powerful forward pack featuring the likes of Zac Merritt, Tim Anderson and Ben Robinson.

Teenage star Nick Greenhalgh will also need to be on his game at halfback if the Magpies are any chance of causing an upset.

The action at Caltex Park begins at 11.30am with the under-18s while the main game kicks off at 2.30pm.
