The Dubbo Stars Men's first and second grade teams have both advanced to the finals after a very successful fourth and final round of the Superleague indoor cricket competition played at Dubbo Sports World at the weekend.

After travelling to the Hunter region for the past two rounds, the Dubbo boys were happy to host and there were some excellent results.
In Men's 1s it was a narrow victory against Hunter, with a final score of 98 to 95. Best players were Dan Horrocks (2/0) and Aiden Bennewith (2/9) who produced some great bowling, while Jordan Peacock (34) and Dan Holland (22) made their mark on the run tally.
Against Charlestown the Men's 1s had a decisive win, scoring 170 to their opponents' 107. Best with the bat were Aiden Bennewith on 27, and Tom Barber on 26. Tom also took a massive 5/3, while Dan Holland took 3/4. Player of the Match was Tom Barber.
In Stars Men's 2s it was another close finish for Dubbo against Hunter, the Stars eventually running out winners 81-79. Player of the Match Joel Johnston took 3/0 while teammate Jarrod Toole took 3/2. Brendan Powyer and Justin Knudsen were both strong with the bat, scoring 20 runs apiece.
The team then took on the Charlestown crew, with the home side scoring a 127-121 victory. Justin Knudsen was named player of the match, notching up 25 runs and taking 2/7 with the ball. Jackson Peacock also impressed, taking 2/7, while Tom Barber came away with a respectable 23 runs.
In the Men's 3s the Stars put in a strong effort against Hunter, making 71 to their opponents' 85. Dale O'Donnell was named Player of the Match along with his Hunter counterpart, Mitchell Thompson in a joint award. Dale made 24 runs and took 1/5 while Josh Wright made 25 and Will Benson was busy with the ball finishing with 5/-10.
The next match against the undefeated Charelstown side was always going to be tough and Dubbo fell short, going down 121-79. To the young Stars team it was a strong effort against a much more experienced outfit and a performance that they can be proud of.
Eric Woolnough put in a good all-round effort, with 3/2 and 21 runs while Jackson Dawe made 2/11 and Jackson Peacock scored 15 runs.
The other division was the Masters, who went down to Charlestown 133-117. Best effort came from Player of the Match Brian McKinnon who took 2/6 and scored 18 runs. Craig Pettit made 2/8 and 20 runs, while Scott Barber scored 18.
Dubbo then defeated Hunter in a convincing 133 to 92 victory, with Tim Beckenham making the most runs on 22. Scott Barber bowled his way to 3/4 while Craig Pettit scored 2/7. Dave Glassen made a handy 25 runs.
It was a successful weekend and while the Masters and Men's 3s bow out of the competition, the 1s and 2s travel to the finals at Thornton on August 16.
