Students were kept busy with running events, field events and some fun novelty events. It was great to see so many families come along and enjoy the wonderful day.
A big thank you to Mr Colley for his excellent organisation of the day. Our year 2 students really enjoyed joining their Primary peers for the day.
It proved to be an excellent transition day for them. Thanks to Mrs Mansell for taking such good care of them throughout the day.
Bledisloe Cup:
The Qantas Wallabies pursuit of their first Bledisloe Cup win since 2002 have this week embarked on a five-day rural road trip through Dubbo, Orange, Bathurst and Penrith.
We were thrilled to have them visit our school and for 45 minutes they had both staff and students captivated.
Not only did they get to see the cup, some lucky students got to hold it for themselves.
There was a very entertaining dance off between two groups; one performing the Australian anthem and the other performing the haka.
As you can see from the photos there were some very excited staff and students.
Harry Kater was able to correctly guess that Australia and New Zealand have been rivals for 111 Bledisloe Cup triumph years.
Brooke Piltcher correctly guessed the age of the cup - 83 years old. Tiara Morris accurately guessed that the cup weighed 21 kg.
Education Week:
Education Week has been celebrated in style with a number of highly-successful and well-attended events being held.
Thank you to staff for their organisation and also, thank you to our wonderful parents and community members for supporting the events.
There were two lovely assemblies which saw many students rewarded for their consistent effort and achievement in school activities.
Our Signing Choir, who gained first at the Dubbo Eisteddfod, gave a performance at both assemblies.
Both campuses held successful sports days and we were blessed with great weather for both.
It was great to see so many people enjoying the barbecue.
School band:
Our school band members continue to work hard at honing their skills.
Each Tuesday morning students from years 3 to 6 work with Macquarie Conservatorium staff with group and individual tuition being given.
We look forward to hearing them at an assembly soon.
Jump Rope for Heart:
The school recently hosted a demonstration from the Jump Rope for Heart Organisation. Students were shown a variety of jumps and then each class spent 20 minutes practising their skills.
Students were challenged with some extremely difficult jumps - the pretzel, the cross over and the double jump being some examples.
Staff were provided with excellent resources to enable them to consolidate skills during daily fitness sessions this term.
Parent/Teacher interviews:
All parents and carers were welcomed into the school for our annual parent/teacher interviews.
This was an excellent information sharing exercise with parents pleased with their child's achievements through semester 1.
Teachers were able to discuss Personalised Learning Plans and any adjustments or support programs their child may be involved in. If you were unable to see your child's teacher on this night please contact the school.
