The Dubbo City Holiday Park hosted ambassadors Kellie and Corey Stephenson and their five-year-old son Zac.
The trio decided to pack everything up and hit the road last October to escape “the daily grind” and Mrs Stephenson said it’s “the best thing we ever did’’.
“It’s an opportunity of a lifetime; we’ve probably visited some places that we wouldn’t have experienced [without Follow the Sun],” she said.
In April they won Dometic’s Follow the Sun competition and were announced as the new “faces of domestic travel in Australia’’.
They were awarded an upgrade to their four-wheel-drive and pop-top caravan, and a three-month, all-expenses paid trip across New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. They started in Goondoowindi in Queensland and finish at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast after travelling to Broken Hill, McLaren Vale, Geelong, Moruya, Sydney and Coffs Harbour.
On the way they host ‘happy hours’ discussing the amazing opportunity they have been given and promote the products their vehicles have been supplied with.
In Dubbo the Stephensons spoke about their amazing experience and enjoyed wine tasting at Red Earth Estate.
They went to the zoo on Tuesday and The Old Dubbo Gaol yesterday and raved about Dubbo.
Mrs Stephenson introduced the blog The Blonde Nomad when she started travelling and has a following on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
She said the experience had been “a dream” with ups and downs as expected, but encouraged everyone to get out and experience our beautiful country.
“(Packing up everything and travelling) is not for everyone,” Mrs Stephenson said.
“If you’re the type of person who wants the fancy house and car and to send your kids to a certain fancy school this is probably not for you.
“But I’m encouraging people to travel, even if it’s just for the weekend; don’t waste time in front of the TV, spend time with your kids.”
