The Tasmanian group, which shot to fame when it finished as runners-up on Australia’s Got Talent, couldn’t believe it when Kernaghan asked if they would not only be the support act for his Beautiful Noise tour, but also be part of his band.
“Lee’s a great guy. We grew up listening to his music so we have to pinch ourselves, now that we are touring with him,” bassist and vocalist Tom Wolfe said.
“Lee saw us on Australia’s Got Talent and liked what he saw. He has really taken us under his wing.
“We’ve had a lot of fun on tour. We were with Lee in 2013 and we basically decided to keep on going. It’s been great because for Lee, he is going to a lot of towns he hasn’t been to for quite some time.”
The Wolfe Brothers will release their second album Nothin’ But Trouble on September 5 and their new single That Kinda Night has proved extremely popular.
“We’ve just released our new single, it’s the best received single we have had. When it debuted it went to number one on iTunes and it stayed there for a week,’’ Wolfe said.
“We have even started to cross over to commercial radio, which isn’t something we intended but it’s pretty cool.
“I was listening to a station the other day and they played our song in between Bruno Mars and Katy Perry. That’s pretty cool.”
While Wolfe is proud of the albums the band has made, his biggest passion is still performing in front of an audience.
“For me, playing live is my favourite part. It’s a joy for me, travelling and playing shows,’’ he said.
“And doing a tour is the best, it gives you the opportunity to get on a run.”
The show is on Saturday, August 23, starting at 8pm.
