Thirteen officers were honoured for their service and three for their bravery at a ceremony at the Dubbo Police Station held in their honour.
Deputy Commissioner Nick Kaldas made the trip to Dubbo to present some of the awards and congratulate the men and women on their achievements.
Senior Constable Nita Morris was presented with her Police Medal 30 Year Clasp and Sergeant Richard Morley received his 20 Year Clasp and were noted for their unwavering commitment.
Those presented with a 15 Year Clasp included Senior Sergeant Simon Madgewick, Sergeant Rod Buhr, Sergeant Justin Falkiner, Sergeant Sarah Johnston, Detective Senior Constable Sue-Ellen Scott and Constable Alan Bridle while Senior Constable Brendan Wilson and Detective Senior Constable Michael Martin were both given their Police Medal for 10 years service.
Mary Taylor was also presented with a NSW Police Medallion for 10 years of service as an unsworn member of the Dubbo office while Intelligence Analyst Ann Brennan received the Police Medallion 15 Year Clasp and Long Service Award.
Deputy Commissioner Kaldas congratulated the officers on their service and said they should be extremely proud of the work they have done to reduce crime.
“The Orana Local Area Command has done exceptionally well over the last few years, as has the rest of the Police Force. Crime rates are falling across the state in almost all categories,” he told recipients.
“Across the state, consistently for 10 years, crime has been steady or falling in every category and that doesn’t just happen, it’s because of the good work you have done.
“Days like today are really important. We need to reflect, commend and pat on the back those who have done amazing things and have worked diligently.”
As well as their work fighting crime, the Deputy Commissioner also praised officers for their interaction with the community. He said the Orana LAC had proved themselves to be extremely effective in helping to solve problems and deal with enquiries.
