As part of an annual event, the Dubbo base makes an aircraft available for display and opens up its hangar to the public.
Staff are also available for question and answer sessions and equipment demonstrations.
President of the Dubbo Support Group of the Royal Flying Doctor Service Terry Clark, said it was important to give people an opportunity to see what went on.
"Normally the hangar is a no-go area for the public but they get to walk around there and have a look at one of our aircraft. We also have an education simulator, which is a replica of a King Air plane on a trailer," Mr Clark said.
"We had 15,000 people go through the simulator at the Royal Easter Show and it proved to be extremely popular. We will also have our support group offering merchandise and there is a kid's corner where they can do fun things like making planes.
"It's just a great opportunity for the public to know what the base does and we encourage anyone who is interested to make the most of this opportunity."
The Royal Flying Doctor Service base is located on Cooreena Road, past the main airport entrance, on the right hand side.
The open day will be on Sunday between 10am and 3pm and will offer a barbecue and light refreshments.
