Rhinos Gold and the Eagles finished first and second respectively in the Graincorp Cup regular season and will be guaranteed to put on an excellent game of running rugby.
First year head coach Darren Taylor has his Rhinos Gold charges primed and ready for a full-on assault from a well-balanced Yeoval XV, which boasts a powerful forward pack and a backline full of pace and flair.
But with a scrum rarely bested this year and a defensive unit led by breakaways Sam McLeod and Kane Rich and skipper Nic Rathbone, the Rhinos have the ability to meet the power of their opponents and provide the platform for an exciting backline led by half back Josh O'Dea.
Centre Ricky Weatherall continues a fine season while find of the year Rob Davy is on one wing and the pocket battleship, Viliame Cagibula, is on the other, giving Rhinos Gold two of the best finishers in the competition. Stand-off, Louis Hollman, has added a touch of class since coming from Bourke and his ability to quickly move the backline is critical to the Rhinos success.
The teams met twice in the regular season with the Rhinos winning on both occasions, 19-17 at Caltex Park and 24-17 away at Yeoval. After their easy victory last Saturday over Coolah the Eagles will be primed for a hard contest at Caltex and this game might well be the prelude to the grand final.
With the home ground advantage the Rhinos deserve to be favourites but an entertaining, low scoring contest would not surprise. Both sides have performed magnificently throughout the season and thoroughly deserve their standing in the competition.
Gates open at 1.30pm and the usual bar and canteen facilities will be in operation.
