Four artists from the Regional Contemporary Art Network will be displaying their digital works in various locations around Dubbo and Lithgow for the #bringtolightproject.

Kim V. Goldsmith will be showing a 30 second stop motion video using a handheld projector in four locations, including the Macquarie Regional Library and Postmasters Cafe.

Ms Goldsmith said there is a common misconception that contemporary art is ugly and you need an arts degree to appreciate it, but the #bringtolightproject is making contemporary art available to the masses.

"It showcases contemporary art in a public space so people don't have to go to a gallery. Everybody can have access to this art form," Ms Goldsmith said.

"The audience isn't coming to us, we're going to our audience," Ms Goldsmith said.

She said while paintings of landscapes were appreciated in regional communities, contemporary art, which focuses more on deep thought or research, is often viewed as inaccessible.

"As regional artists who choose to live in regional areas there's not a lot of support for contemporary art."

Audience participation is encouraged in the #bringtolifeproject and Ms Goldsmith said anyone who views the pieces can upload a photograph of the work or a 'selfie' to Instagram, tagging @rcan_projects and using the hashtag #bringtolightproject.
