THE government has finally released a report into the social problems of East Dubbo, titled the East Dubbo Ministers Action Group Discussion Report, more than 18 months after it was handed to then Family and Community Services minister Pru Goward.
The report contains 43 strategies that new minister attached to the report, Dubbo MP Troy Grant, said will tackle systemic issues and bring sustainable change to the city.
Mr Grant has taken over the East Dubbo Minister's Action Group because of his improved access to ministers in the cabinet, the report was also broadened to included the troubled section of West Dubbo.
A list of Frequently Asked Questions accompanying the report, the Ministerial Action Group says in the past three years it has played a key role in several actions that have cleaned up the area.
These included the return of mail to West Dubbo, the sale of Apollo Estate Houses, the organisation of clean up days in the area and an increase in tenancy adherence and inspections.
The work of the action group has mainly been done by several government departments, including the majority by Family and Community Services.
The next five years will prove interesting to watch as the Ministers Action Group continues its campaign.
The major plan will see the group focus on children from birth to eight- years-old as a critical group within the community. If the group can act to change the mindset of this group of young people, then they will work towards changing the future.
A report will be released yearly with their updates. We look forward to seeing the change.
