The night was organised to benefit the late Dr Chris O'Brien's Lifehouse at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.
Geurie local Bill Dewar said he was staggered by community support.
"Absolutely phenomenal," he said.
"The Geurie showground was buzzing.
"There was a large crowd and I am overwhelmed with people here who supported the auction on a very cold night.
Mr Dewar's daughter Sara came to Geurie for the event along with his brother Steven.
Both were proud of Mr Dewar, who had himself been a supporter of many other fundraisers in the area.
"He is just fantastic and the support he has from the community in such a little town is wonderful," Steven Dewar said.
Dr O'Brien operated on Mr Dewar a decade ago and the Geurie man said he wanted to give back to a man who had achieved so much and who had passed away at such a young age.
The RPA surgeon died of complications with his malignant brain tumour in 2006.
His death generated a national outpouring of grief.
In his memory, Mr Dewar will ride in the Sunsuper Ride to Conquer Cancer on October 11 and 12.
"The most amazing part of the auction was five local blokes who bought the bike I am riding from Sydney to Hawkesbury and back for $4,500," he said.
"I stood there and thought, how good are these blokes?"
Mr Dewar said he wanted to ensure cancer sufferers could access the help they needed, like he did 10 years ago.
