The four-year-old was dominant when he put away a good field on his home track back on July 13, and with just rivals to line up against him today he looks set to add to his career record which already features five wins and five minor placings from just 16 starts.
Mathew Cahill has once again been entrusted with the ride by Socks The Fox's trainer Cameron Crockett, with the Cowra-based hoop having a record of one win and one second-placing from two rides on the gelding.
The Luke Griffith-trained Double Halo and The Brown One, from the Fiona Watts stable at Dubbo, look likely to be Socks The Fox's main dangers in today's event, although both will have to reverse recent unplaced efforts if they are to beat the promising sprinter.
Meanwhile, Dubbo jockey Kody Nestor will be wearing a famous set of colours when he's legged aboard Tent Hill in the Maiden Plate (1200m) today.
The grey jacket, purple seams and white cap - now registered to Greg O'Mally from Narromine - were formerly used by Stan and Millie Fox when they raced hundreds of horses trained at Rosehill by Brian Mayfield-Smith and Jack Denham.
Their outstanding gallopers included Sydney Cup winner Late Show and prolific winner Purple Patch.
"After Mr and Mrs Fox passed away the intention was to retire the colours, however a niece heard I had been a keen follower of the Fox-owned horses and advised the registrar to make the colours available," O'Mally, a director of Narromine Turf Club, said.
Rodney Robb trains Tent Hill, a three-year-old grey gelding bred by racing photographer Janian McMillan and her partner Simon Thompson from Wellington.
Following an impressive performance in an official barrier trial, Tent Hill sustained a stone bruise and was given time off.
At his second start the gelding raced greenly when a close third to Willywhoosh and Yours Sincerely at Gilgandra before doing everything right when finishing second to the promising Tinmine in an 1100m Maiden Plate at Wellington.
Today Tent Hill has drawn wide in barrier 13 but with Nestor in the saddle and the wide-open track at Warren giving all runners a sporting chance he is expected to be one of the main fancies in an open race.
