The wallet also contained money that she and husband Isaac had put aside for their son Dominic's first birthday in September.
"We'll never replace that ring, that's the ring that my husband gave me- it's so sentimental to me," Mrs McLeenan said.
The young family is just making ends meet with Mrs McLeenan on maternity leave until next month and Mr McLeenan is forced to work two jobs.
The McLeenans have had a run of bad luck and both Mr and Mrs McLeenan are devastated at the latest incident.
"They've kicked us while we're down; taking the wallet, ring and cash- It's hard to deal with," Mrs McLeenan said.
Mrs McLeenan kept her wallet in the nappy bag and said it must have slipped out when she took the bag inside- leaving it in plain sight on the seat.
The blue and grey Guess wallet itself was sentimental Mrs McLeenan said, as it was purchased from Rodeo Drive when the she went on a big American holiday.
Her engagement ring was kept in the wallet as it was due to be resized.
Isaac heard their dog barking strangely at 5am Saturday and he noticed a man walking away from their house.
It was not until he got in the car to go to work that he noticed the back passenger side window closest to the curb had been smashed.
Dominic's DVD player was left untouched, so the McLeenans thought they may have been spared until Mrs McLeenan noticed her wallet was missing.
The incident was reported to police immediately and photos of the ring and wallet were posted on Facebook crime pages.
The McLeenans next port of call will be looking for the wallet or ring in pawn shops or similar.
Mrs McLeenan said leaving her wallet in the car was an accident, but it highlighted the need to be extra careful with belongings in cars.
"If you think your car's safe it's not," she said.
"Check it once, check it again and do anything to deter (thieves).
"Keep your car undercover if you can and definitely don't keep anything valuable in your car. It's been a very hard lesson to learn."
If she could say something to the thieves she said she would tell them to "get a job and get your own money, don't steal from the poor."
Mrs McLeenan urged anyone who has any information to call the police, as she is crushed by this loss.
"To not have that ring is devastating, it's like a big part of my life is gone," she said.
