The quarter-final of the prestigious Waratah Shield will be played at Caltex Park today with powerhouses Farrer Memorial Agricultural College, from Tamworth, and Sydney's Hills Sports High School go head to head in a quarter final.

As proud sponsors of Rhinos Rugby, Western College was more than happy to extend its support to an activity that promotes the pursuit of excellence among young people, and will provide for a barbecue lunch for both teams following the match.

The college's marketing manager, David Armstrong, has a foot in both camps - having also played rugby at representative level in his youth and is a former Rhinos coach.

He, along with other local rugby fans, is excited for the match and was pleased his school got to play a part in making sure the day ran smoothly.

"This is a real coup for Dubbo, and it's great that Western College can partner with the Rhinos to host what will be a spectacle of some of the best schoolboy rugby you'll see anywhere in the state," he said.

"The college is all about supporting youth - and we acknowledge sport as a valuable vehicle for education, so helping out with this event is a perfect fit."

Armstrong says the match will be a great one to watch with two of the state's top high school rugby teams battling for a spot in the semi-finals.

Both schools have proud sporting traditions, not just in rugby, and Armstrong was confident those who attend will be treated to a highly entertaining clash.

"Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School and Hills Sports High School from Sydney have chosen Dubbo as a neutral ground on which to play their quarter final," he said.

"And these elite players, some of whom already play at representative level, will put on a spectacle of top class rugby for spectators."

The game kicks off at 10am today and admission is free for anyone wishing to attend.
