Dubbo Westside were made to pay for their ill discipline once again yesterday as competition leaders and local rivals CYMS ran out comprehensive 58-4 winners at No. 1 Oval.
The Fishies scored 10 tries to one in a dominant performance as they did the little things right on the back of countless repeat sets.
As well as a giving away a mountain of penalties the Rabbitohs also had to deal with four player sent to the sin-bin at different times and Tim Ryan's men took full advantage.
Two CYMS players also spent time in the bin but it was otherwise a flawless showing which maintained their spot at the top of the Group 11 ladder.
"We were pretty clinical in the first half," CYMS forward Nick Wilson said after the match, making his return to the club after a spell in Terrigal.
"I thought they controlled things well and completed probably 80-90 per cent of sets so they were really dominant and that's good, they're enthusiastic and they all get to training so it's all positive signs for the club."
Kieran Shipp scored a hat-trick in the win with his first opening the day's scoring on 10 minutes as he was on hand to finish a Daryl Cubby break.
Cubby was on hand to score a try in the corner soon after following some quick hands from Alex Bonham and Shipp and from the resulting kickoff Westside gave away another penalty.
The Fishies worked their way down the field and Luke Jenkins dived over from dummy-half before Jopi Tui barged over and Colby Pellow again converted to make it 18-0.
Jyie Chapman showed his pace when he burst onto a ball on the halfway line and streaked away to score before right on halftime Shipp picked up a loose ball 40m from his own line and had a clear run to the line. Jake Eastwood and Ainsley Coxsedge were both sent for 10 minutes following a heated push and shove but with the score 36-0 at the break the damage was already done. Westside showed plenty of passion in the second half but too many times their physical style of play resulted in more penalties.
"That's to be expected," Wilson said of Westside's physical style.
"Westside is a pretty proud club and they're really happy to be back so being a local derby they're going to try and give it to us but that's all part of it and it's good to have another local derby other than Macquarie."
Blake Tremain-Cannon muscled his way over the line two minutes after the break and Pellow's conversion made it 42-0 before Tui charged over for his second.
Seaun Stanley was sent for 10 minutes for a high shot on Tremain-Cannon while Shane Konz was also sent for a spell after striking Jordan Reynolds in the head, both following Mick Gibson's five minutes in the bin for dissent in the first half.
With only 11 on the field the Rabbitohs let in further tries for Shipp and Reynolds before they finally got on the board when Shannon Boney scored in the corner.
The game threatened to boil over in the final minutes with more push and shove but the clock ran down and the Fishies prepared for next weekend's derby with Macquarie in perfect fashion.
