Monkey Bar Licensee Prashant Changela said hosting music events at the park is an untapped opportunity for Dubbo.
"There's no question about it. There are a number of events we can hold here. Dubbo is the biggest of all the small country towns in the region and there's nothing happening here," Mr Changela said.
Despite only being drawn into the plans three days ago by campaigner Garry Braithwaite, Mr Changela said he aims to hold music events similar to A Day on the Green, and said he even sees the potential to host a New Year's Eve party at the site.
"It will keep our money in our economy and provide a boost to tourism," he said.
Mr Changela said music events would also create jobs for community members who could run food stalls at the events.
Mr Braithwaite, who is behind the amphitheatre idea, said Sir Roden Cutler Park has been in "time warp" since Carols in the Candlelight was held there 20 years ago.
He predicts 5000 to 6000 people would turn up for an event in the park and said there is already room for 500 cars and 10 buses to fit in the parking lot.
In addition, Mr Braithwaite said there are 500 beds within walking distance of the area for people who are unable to drive home.
Mr Braithwaite said seven out of the 11 Dubbo City Councillors are in favour of the amphitheatre, along with the Dubbo Country Music Association.
President of the Dubbo Country Music Association Mal Norton said he is completely confident a country music festival will be held at the park in the coming future.
Mr Braithwaite said the next step of the project is for a permanent toilet block to be built on the site, and is calling for individuals and businesses to sponsor the project.
