Dubbo's under-12 netball team should savour their triumph in Division 3 at the NSW State Age Championships.
They were undefeated in the three-day carnival and beat Southern Highlands 15-12 in the final.
It was a great achievement given most team members had not played at that level before.
They will be promoted into the tougher Division 2 for next year's competition but, having done Dubbo proud, they will hopefully net honours again.
Another standout achiever this week was West Dubbo business owner Henry Jom, who won a NSW government Community Service Award.
Henry fled unrest in East Timor on a refugee boat in the 1970s and built a life, family and business here.
He is a major contributor to his community.
He has been in the Dubbo South Rotary Club for 20 years, has worked with the Royal Flying Doctor Service fundraising ball, helped with the biannual Destination Outback fundraiser and sponsors sporting teams.
A big effort for others from someone who works most days from 4.30am. He deserves recognition.
Celeste Smith, Braidon Newman and Caitlin Beetson plan to serve the community as police officers after graduating from Western TAFE's IPROWD (Indigenous Police Recruitment Our Way Delivery) program.
They hope to make their dreams reality after studying at Goulburn Police Academy.
Hats off to all these winners.
