Dubbo Harness Racing Club will host a five-race meeting this evening with the feature race being a heat of the Penrith Mayor's Cup.
The winner of the $5000 heat will receive the chance to race at Penrith later this year and Dubbo-based Carroll and Forbes' Robb will both fancy their chances of progressing.
Blacks A Buzzin and Janets Ace both impressed last month with Janets Ace in particular catching they eye with a win and a second at Peak Hill while the gelding finished third behind Blacks A Buzzin when they last went head-to-head at Dubbo.
Blacks A Buzzin, driven as well as trained by Carroll, posted a surprisingly comfortable win that day and will be keen for a similar performance tonight.
The win at Dubbo was sandwiched by two third place finishes at Peak Hill and Tamworth. While those two runners will be lining up behind the gate against each other again, Forbes trainer Jason Gaffney will be another looking to win the ticket to Penrith.
Gaffney's mare Bee Mine has recorded 12 career wins, the most of any chance in the heat, and also tasted success at Peak Hill last month.
Murray Sullivan has been tasked with driving Bee Mine and will be keen to bounce back from a fifth-placed finish at Dubbo last start while Nathan Hurst's Getaloadaher, Peter Bullock's Rockstar Ruler and the Shannon Rye-trained Somart make up the field.
The Daily Liberal Pace is also shaping up as a keenly contested event with Seville Lady aiming for a fifth straight top three finish for Gaffney while after finally debuting and recording a win last month, James Sutton's Western castle will be keen to continue it's good form alongside the likes of Tulhurst Sarsha for trainer-driver Hurst and local Peter Reynold's chance Blessedbythebest.
Tonight's meeting begins with the Akuna Motor Inn Pace at 6.10pm while the Radio 2DU pace will be the fifth and final race at 8.10pm.
