8:20am: NSW POLICE ADVISE THAT WEATHER CONDITIONS WILL WORSEN
Police are reminding motorists to drive to the prevailing weather conditions as unpredictable weather conditions continue across NSW.
While the weather remains inclement motorists should consider:-
Give yourself more travel time. This will allow you to drive at a slower, safe pace and cope with the probability of heavy traffic.
Turn on your headlights – even in light rain – to help you see, and be seen.
It takes longer to stop in the wet, so increase your crash avoidance space and drive at a slower pace than you normally would.
Keep a lookout for pedestrians as ordinarily attentive people may become distracted about trying to shelter from the rain they may not be aware of their surroundings.
If you can’t see the road or the car in front of you – or you are feeling too anxious – safely pull over and wait until the rain eases.
Members of the public seeking emergency assistance during a flood or storm should call the NSW State Emergency Service on 132 500, or visit their website www.ses.nsw.gov.au
For the latest on road closures members of the community can visit the website www.livetraffic.com or contact their local councils.
Members of the public can also visit www.emergency.nsw.gov.au for a range of storm related information.
For all other emergencies, the public are advised to contact Triple Zero (000).

Outsourcing more ABC television productions to commercial producers would not diminish the quality of programming or the broadcaster's identity, according to the independent production sector.
It was a simple but poignant gesture that said more than words ever could. For a brief moment on Tuesday morning, Lois Greste struggled to hold back tears when talking about her son Peter.
Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull has given his strongest indication the federal government will allow Australia Post to increase stamp prices and introduce a three day a week letter service to combat bleeding letter revenues.
Most of the Australians fighting with jihadist groups in Syria and Iraq are not dual nationals, the Abbott government has revealed, meaning it will be effectively impossible to stop them coming home.
Peter Greste may yet be freed from his seven-year jail sentence but the journalist's chances rest largely on rival bids for influence over Egypt by the US and Saudi Arabia, sources and experts say.
