Six mosaic paving stones were unveiled yesterday morning, thanks to the work of Base Arts Inc and their Arts in Healthcare program.
The stones are set to brighten up the sitting area outside the emergency ward, which were designed by the Buninyong Art Buddies,
The group met twice a week at Apollo House to complete their project in just under a month.
The project was funded by Regional Arts NSW, TAFE Western Creative Industries and Basement Studio, along with the continuous support of the Buninyong SaCC, Apollo House and Base Art Inc committee members.
Dubbo Hospital executive and Base Art President Bernadette Fay said this project was particularly symbolic to the Dubbo community.
"This was contributed by Indigenous community members, which in a way is very symbolic," Mrs Fay said.
Mrs Fay said that the mosaic artists have strengthened their relationship with the community and their contribution will allow them to remain permanently connected to Dubbo Hospital.
Apollo House community liaison officer Lionel Wood said he was extremely grateful for all the help from community members and in particular Base Arts Inc.
Local Wiradjuri Elder and community project worker at Apollo House Riverbank Frank was pleased with the final results of the project.
"Connection to the community is everything," he said.
