DUBBO Golf Club was a hive of activity at the June long weekend, with close to 200 competitors involved in the veterans nine-hole stroke event and the men's monthly medal on Saturday alone.

Grahame Allan was the star of the show in the veterans' competition, finishing with a nett score of 31 after firing just 32 off the stick.
He finished four shots clear of his nearest rival Ray Walton, while Bob Hargraves survived a countback with Ray Moulds, Phil Maher and Jim McDonald to finish third.
Meanwhile the monthly medal event attracted 164 starters, with visitors from Wynnum, Parkes, Palmerston, Wentworth Falls and Mudgee all enjoying the fine conditions.
Brett Wrigley won the A-grade medal with a nett score of 65, three shots ahead of John Swan, who these days is playing off a remarkable +4 handicap.
The scratch winner was young gun Jones Comerford with 70.
In B-grade Matthew Gooch's nett score of 70 gave him a two-shot win over Aaron Strudwick, with Richie Richardson winning the scratch event on a countback, while in C-grade Mark Powderly finished with 67 nett to win by one shot from harness driver extraordinaire Kurt Lew.
Powderly also won the scratch section with 88 off the stick.
The junior medal winner was Alex Haylock with 72 nett.
Nearest the pin prizes were won by Brant Mann (11th, 277cm), Simon Madgwick (15th, 212cm), Zac Perrin (18th, 16cm), Aaron Moulds (23rd, 62cm) and Brian Turrell (26th, 72cm).
