RSPCA volunteer Rick Lean said they were expecting a big turn out of about 400 people, the same as last year's numbers.
"This is the major fund-raiser for the RSPCA," Mr Lean said.
"The idea is to get people out of the house and enjoying the day with their dogs.
"We want to let the community know we're here, as well as promoting animal welfare."
RSPCA Million Paws Walk Dubbo coordinator Tania Monson was pleased with the smooth sailing of the event.
"After the walk we've got lots of activities planned," Mrs Monson said.
"We're awarding a variety of prizes including 'best dressed dog'.
"None of this would have been possible without the continuous support from all our sponsors."
The crowds were treated to the comic styling of compere David Nash who was roaming the event quite literally talking to every man and his dog.
Besides the fun and games of the day, the RSPCA were aiming to get the message across that the community needs to get behind the good cause and adopt the pets in need.
Rachel James, owner of Emily the chihuahua, said she was having a fantastic day.
"It's wonderful to have so many people out socialising with their pets."
Duncan Payne, owner of Boomer the Great Dane, was enjoying his day out immensely.
"It's been great to see the hundreds of different types of dogs around Dubbo."
