Running, crawling, climbing and jumping around a muddy, nine kilometre obstacle course isn't the way most people like to start their Sunday but a capacity field of 1100 will turn out for Sunday's Titan Macquarie Mud Run.

Organisers are thrilled with the interest around the inaugural mud run and are keen to make it an annual event.
The nine-kilometre course starts at Ollie Robbins Oval and uses the Macquarie River and nearby hills to provide a unique challenge, while 24 obstacles ensure it is far more than just a run in the park.
"We have slides, river crossings, hill climbs, monkey bars and mud pits so there is a variety of challenges," organiser Rod Fardell said.
"We wanted to create an event for Dubbo. There are a lot of obstacle runs in Sydney and we thought it would be good for Dubbo to have one of its own. The main aim for people is to have fun, it's a team event.
"The leaders should be able to finish in around an hour but for most, the goals will be to finish the course and really enjoy it."
According to Fardell, the event has the potential to become another big drawcard for Dubbo, establishing itself on the calendar with other activities like the Dubbo Running Festival.
"About 3000 people take part in the Dubbo Stampede and we think there is the potential to double our entries but we didn't want to aim too big in our first year," he said.
"Forty per cent of our entries are from out of town so that is more than 400 people who are coming to Dubbo because of this."
Fardell said the mud run wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for the hard work of the committee and support from sponsors and Dubbo City Council.
Spectators are encouraged to create a carnival atmosphere at the finish line. There will also be entertainment including live music, hot food and drinks.
The event gets under way at 8am on Sunday at Ollie Robbins Oval.
