More than 50 Toyotas turned out for the show and shine on Saturday morning, before putting their cars to the test in a motorkhana later that afternoon.
On Sunday they travelled out to the Bodangora Airstrip near Wellington for some drag racing.
“It was another great event. There was a great display of Toyotas, both old and new, stock and modified. I think the earliest we had was a 1965 model then right through to brand new examples. We also had a few Lexus’,” Toyota Nationals organiser Dave McNeill said.
A 1969 Toyota Crown wagon dominated the show and shine, winning the overall show and shine, interior, paint and engine bay awards.
“The Crown wagon was fantastic. It had been heavily modified, with a 3.0L Supra engine. We called the engine bay the fridge because it was pure white,” McNeill said.
He said both the motorkhana and drag races proved popular with participants and spectators.
“Everything went extremely well, we had great weather, the people of Dubbo were great. Why would we hold it anywhere else?” McNeill said.
“We are already making plans for the 39th nationals next year and the big one will be the 40th in two years time. We really want to make that a big occasion.”
