But it has been the local players scooping the pool, with the majority of the victors being from Club Dubbo itself
While most sporting groups take a break during the holiday period, the bowlers have been out in force, enjoying the brilliant conditions and facilities the club has on offer.
On Friday the team of Alex Rae and Steve Davis were successful in the men's pairs event, beating clubmates Dave Dalton and Les Williams, with another Club Dubbo pairing of Mark Morton and Frank Rowe in third place.
On Saturday in the triples it was the host club's Darren Conley and Matt Thompson who combined with former clubmate Tim Farrell, now at Forster, for the win.
They beat the trio of Frank Rowe, Dusty Cooper and Frank Bartlett, with Josh Andriske, Alan Andriske and Henry Gordon (Railway) filling the placings.
"It's been a big weekend so far and there's been plenty of good bowls played," Club Dubbo bowls manager Anthony Brown said.
"We've had teams from Orange, Toongabbie, Gilgandra, Narromine, Wellington and Charlestown here and we've had lots of good comments about our greens and how well they are running.
"Our players have been playing very well over the weekend but the competition has been very strong."
The weekend carnival will conclude today with a two-bowl triples tournament starting at 9am.
