The businesses that have teamed up with Roads and Maritime Services and 13 local councils are promoting fatigue awareness on most roads stretching from Lithgow to Moree and beyond.
The Free Cuppa for the Driver campaign is an initiative of the combined participating councils' Road Safety Program and is a complement program to the existing Driver Reviver Scheme.
Both the Free Cuppa for the Driver and the Driver Reviver scheme recognise a need to fatigue manage our western roads particularly during long weekends and school holidays.
The campaign will run until May 30 and includes the Easter and Anzac Day long weekends and the April school holidays when travellers are more prevalent.
Dubbo City Council's Road Safety Officer Jayne Bleechmore, reminded drivers of the need to stop, revive and survive.
"Most people know that drivers should stop, revive and survive every two hours; however we strongly advise drivers not to wait two hours if they're noticing signs of fatigue, but to stop whenever those signs occur, even if you have only been driving for half an hour."
"Signs of fatigue can be yawning, poor concentration, tired eyes, restlessness, drowsiness, slow reactions, boredom and oversteering," Ms Bleechmore said.
Free Cuppa for the Driver brochures are available in local caravan parks, motels and Visitor Information Centres and the brochures identify participating businesses for travellers passing through each of the thirteen local government areas.
"Bali banners, sandwich boards and decals in the shop windows clearly identify the participating businesses and roadside banners have been installed on the outskirts of cities, towns and villages to encourage travellers to take a break," Ms Bleechmore said.
Visiting drivers will need to produce their driver's licence when taking their free cuppa to verify that they have driven at least 100km.
The brochure includes town exclusion zones and maps showing the locations of the participating businesses.
