Two of Rugby Leagues biggest stars, former Balmain and NSW Origin team mates Paul Sironen and Steve Roach, visited Dubbo yesterday to help promote the lead up to the Sunday, May, 4 game.
Dubbo Council City Promotions and Events Supervisor Lana Willets said the build up to the game is very exciting.
“May 4 is just around the corner and now is the time for businesses and fans to really start getting excited about what is coming,” she said.
Ms Willets says the Country v City game is a fantastic event for Dubbo and locals should be extremely proud of the opportunity to hold such a significant event.
“Dubbo can expect thousands of overnight and day visitors for the match with Caltex Park capable of holding a crowd of 15,000,” she said.
“Already commentary of the game is turning to the representative season and the pride that comes with wearing the Country v City jersey.”
The prizes for the best window display competition will include a signed Country jumper, donated by the CRL and NRL, as well as four tickets to the Country v City Game.
Judging of the Best Window Display will take place Saturday, May, 3, and will be voted by the NRL players.
“The [window display] competition is all about building excitement in the local community and getting locals involved,” Ms Willets said.
Ms Willets says the competition is a fantastic way to help support the upcoming Country v City game.
“It’ll be a promotion in itself,” she said. “With all the colours and NRL themes, it’ll be a fantastic way to help support Dubbo’s local businesses and the game itself.”
Country Assistant Coach, Steve “Blocker” Roach and City Team Manager Paul Sironen are looking forward to the upcoming clash.
“The match will be great,” Mr Roach said.
With Caltex Park able to accommodate 18,000 fans, Mr Roach is positive everyone will be one the winning side.
“I think the 18,000 will all be going for Country,” he said.
