Not only was the excitement buzzing in the air for the last day of school before the Easter holidays, students were thrilled to share the fun with family members to celebrate the annual Grandparent’s Day.
Dubbo Public School Principal Debbie Pritchard was pleased with the success of the day, despite having to cancel the outdoors Easter Hat Parade due to the wet weather.
“It’s been a fun-filled day, we had a concert this morning with performances from the choirs and school band.”
“We’ve also been able to entertain our guests with a circus group and school dancers,” she said.
“The turn-out has been outstanding, we didn’t have enough chairs for everyone.”
The playground was alight with colours of student’s specially made Easter hats, which were done in combined peer groups, Mrs Pritchard said.
“The beauty of Grandparent’s Day is that you can tell the kids are really looking forward to it.”
“They’re delighted to show their grandparents what they get up to at school,” she said.
“You can tell how an increase in family involvement influences a child’s engagement in the classroom.”
