Originally from Dubbo, Millie will be appearing on our television screens as Anastasia Hamilton in the Australian drama series The Gods of Wheat Street, which premieres on Saturday, April 12 on ABC1 at 8.30pm.
Filmed in October 2012, Millie is excited for the final result to be released.
"It's been a long time coming," she said.
The eldest daughter of Roland and Anna Samuels and sister to Edwina, Lucy and James, she believes that the seeds which ignited her passion for performance were planted right here in Dubbo.
For as long as she can remember, Millie has been a lover of the creative arts.
"My grandma, Margaret Samuels, played a massive part in childhood. She was mainly our taxi service, trying to get all four kids to our piano, dance and speech and drama lessons. She was forever taking us along to exhibitions at the Regional Gallery, concerts at the Anglican Church and recitals at the Macquarie Conservatorium of Music," she said.
"At the time I think we dragged our feet and played up daring each other to touch the forbidden items on display, but I am so thankful to her for opening my eyes to the arts in Dubbo."
A keen stage performer, Millie was taught piano by Marion Ramsay and then later by Cathy Kerr.
"I always had to be centre stage, in the limelight," she said,
"Along with piano, I enrolled in Penny Furner's Dance Connection which was then formed to be Dubbo City Performing Arts by Georgie Barber. I can't thank her enough for the guidance and sheer tolerance she had for me."
Millie attended Dubbo South Public School and St John's College until year 9 when she boarded at Abbotsleigh on the upper North Shore in Sydney.
"It was wonderful to have access to so many talented mentors while living at the school."
Millie thrived in the school community, being named Drama Prefect in 2008.
Enrolling at CSU in Bathurst in 2009, Millie completed at Bachelor of Communications Theatre/Media.
"Bathurst is such a great community and I was forever involved in different stage pieces.I was able to put all my fingers in all the different honey pots and get a taste for the different roles in the theatre, film and media world," she said.
"Whether Mum and Dad liked it or not, I knew that I wanted to perform for the rest of my life."
After graduating from CSU, Millie gained work as a Production Assistant for the ABC, working for the miniseries Devil's Dust directed by Jessica Hobbs.
She was then asked to work as a Personal Assistant to Hollywood star Christina Ricci who came to Australia to film the upcoming feature film Around The Block directed by Sarah Spillane.
However, The Gods of Wheat Street will be Millie's first main television appearance.
"I think I just happened to turn around the right corner at the right time," she said.
"I was approached by an acting agency who the next day signed me and put me forward for the role and then within a few days I was on the plane to Lismore."
Not wanting to give too much away, Millie hopes for the series to be well received by viewers.
With both her sisters also rising in the industry, Millie is looking forward returning to Dubbo next week for Easter.
"There are so many wonderful creative mentors in the Dubbo community and I really hope that one day we can share our experiences and passion for the arts with the next generation of young emerging artists."
