Already it has proved emotional for the director of the Western Plains Theatre Company production at rehearsals.
Andy Carolan has led a cast and crew of more than 30 people aged 8 to 24 years as they bring to the stage the well-loved story by EB White.
He said the tale of the friendship between a pig named Wilbur and a little grey spider named Charlotte had "lots of funny moments" but his favourite scene was when the pair parted for the final time.
"I'm so close to reaching for tissues every time they do it," Mr Carolan said.
"The cast give me a bit of a hard time about that."
The director with a growing number of productions under his belt said 'Charlotte's Web' was by far the biggest production the group had attempted since it began with a two-man show in July 2012.
After 11 weeks and more than 100 hours of rehearsals, the "great cast and committed crew" has exceeded the director's expectations for the latest offering. A contemporary approach to costumes was taken - "cool kids on the streets" - and the young thespians were challenged to use their acting skills rather than their garb to convey their animal.
Irunika Hapuwida plays the title role of Charlotte and Caitlyn Coman-Sargent is the pig trying to avoid becoming a pork chop in the one-hour show.
Year 12 student Lachlan Munn is the "cunning" rat Templeton.
"He's quite gangster - no, punk," Mr Carolan said.
"Lachlan has done a great job bringing out the character we still love, despite the nasty things he says.
"You have no choice but to adore the sneaky little rat."
'Charlotte's Web' will be performed at Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre on Saturday (April 12) at 2pm and 4pm.
Tickets are available from the theatre box office or online.
