A minor placegetter at the recent Tottenham and Tullibigeal picnic meetings, Irrational ($3.20) with Greg Ryan in the saddle led all the way to win the Macquarie Toyota Handicap (1400m) from Kangaroo Ted (Daniel Pitomac, $3.00) and My Lady Alma (Tiffany Jeffries, $17.00).
Kazu Nakata, apprenticed to Robb, rode his first winner in NSW when he was successful on Sword Fighter in the Troon Grazing Partnership Maiden Plate (1000m).
Nakata had previously ridden a winner in Queensland for Nyngan trainer Garry Bignell.
From off the pace, Sword Fighter ($21.00) came with a well timed run to win by over a length from Ol' Mexico (Ken Dunbar, $21.00) and Real Diva (Greg Ryan, $2.60 fav.).
Backing up from a good second to Miss Ubiquity at Dubbo the previous Sunday, the Collen Thurston, Gilgandra-trained Poetic Justice won the Western Sheep Breeders Benchmark 50 Handicap (1000m).
Last away, Poetic Justice was still well back when approaching the turn for home.
Eased across heels to gain a clear run, Poetic Justice ($7.00) ridden by Parkes jockey Michael Hackett, finished strongly to score by a length from Nullaar (Catherine Markwort, $13.00) and Burbie (Kacie Chater, $6.00).
Poetic Justice and the earlier winner Sword Fighter are raced by 'Wacky' Pennell from Carinda.
Forbes trainer Bob Wearing has Bold Horatio racing in fine form, the six year old entire flashing home to win at Tottenham Picnics and then running a close second to Hot Pistol at Bathurst (TAB) before winning at Warren on Saturday.
Shadow Warrior gained an inside run to reach the lead in the barker Old Boys Class 1 Handicap (1200m) but was overhauled close to home by Bold Horatio which finished very strongly from near the back of the field.
With Parkes-based apprentice Tiffany Jeffries aboard, Bold Horatio (backed from #3.60 to $3.10 favouritism) won by a long neck from Shadow warrior (Jeff Kehoe, $7.00), with Von Brochwitz (Daniel Pitomac, $12.00) third.
Apprentice jockey Catherine Markwort from Forbes rode a good race to win the Western Farm Machinery Class 2 Handicap on the Garry Lunn, Dubbo trained George's Mistake.
After saving ground on the rails George's Mistake ($4.60) hit the lead and held off the fast finishing Trust Me Bill (Jeff Kehoe, $5.00) by a half length with Prattler (Greg Ryan, $3.20 fav.) a half head away in third.
The $50,000 Orange Cup (1600m) is on Friday with the Diggers Cup (1300m) to feature at Narromine on Sunday.
Lightning Ridge and Grenfell Picnics are on Easter Saturday with Mudgee TAB on Easter Sunday.
The annual camel races at Forbes racecourse are on Good Friday.
