Mrs Walkom said she believes the benefits from attending the meeting to be immeasurable.
"There were three coaches involved and three groups formed by the principals. The challenge was for each principal to work on an area identified within their school," she said.
"The coaches provided feedback and assistance, but we found that we all managed to coach and support each other. The networking that will come from this experience is something that will help us to drive our schools."
Mrs Walkom said a principal can be somewhat isolated, however the course through Queensland Education Leadership Institute [QELI] takes away some of this isolation.
"The engagement of all principals was testament to the effectiveness of the course and it is with excitement and anticipation we look forward to the days that are to follow," she said.
"Our students will benefit and that's what matters most."
QELI CEO Dr Stephen Brown said the professional development program helped principals address the unique leadership challenges they faced in small schools.
"Principals play a critical role in driving better student outcomes and this program will help give them the skills and insights to better lead change, improve teaching quality and build better teams," he said.
"The small school program is a wonderful opportunity for our small school leaders to develop their capabilities and skills with principals in similar situations."
