In Dubbo, the only candidate confirmed is standing member Troy Grant from the Nationals Party.
Mr Grant said the next 12 months will not see him do anything special.
"You get re-elected on what you do, not just during a campaign period," he said.
"That campaign period is just summing up four years of work.
"I will be judged on my record; I went into this term with 38 election commitments and we've delivered those and many more."
Mr Grant pointed to his record on the Dubbo Hospital, road upgrades and education funding, but said his proudest moments were the smaller wins.
"The individual wins are probably the most satisfying, when you really make a difference in people's lives and solve long-term problems," he said.
Mr Grant said during the next 12 months he would look at continueing to deliver projects.
"I will be meeting with communities to get a plan for the next decade," he said.
"The work is continueing but we need to have a plan in place."
In the Labor camp, the expectation is for a candidate to be name, potentially by mid year.
Acting NSW Country Labor organiser Josephine Hillard said they do expect to have someone contest the seat but Dubbo pre-selection has not happened yet.
"We expect to have nominations prior to our state conference in July," she said.
A Labor candidate for Bathurst has already been named and begun a campaign, but Ms Hillard said different candidates come forward at different times.
"There was a Bathurst candidate ready to go," Ms Hillard said.
"We would be hoping to have someone preselected for Dubbo by July but will have to see what happens when nominations open."
The Greens party are also currently without a candidate but Central West convenor David Mallard said they will begin selecting a candidate later this year.
"We have had candidates for all seats in NSW for the past few elections and I would expect that we will field someone in Dubbo this election," he said.
