Secretary-manager Gus Lico said the club board hasn't discussed the idea yet but he believes it will come up when they meet on Monday.
The Orana Cinema, located inside Dubbo RSL, ran movie screenings until Reading Cinemas opened in 1999 and Mr Lico said while a small single screen wouldn't fill the void left by the five screen complex, he said it may provide a temporary alternative.
"It's going to be a sad day when the cinema closes. No one wants to lose an entertainment service like that, it would be a big loss for Dubbo," Mr Lico said.
"No doubt there will be some discussion at our meeting on Monday but because the news only came out yesterday, it hasn't been looked at yet."
Mr Lico has been in the secretary-manager's role for less than six months and isn't a local so he wasn't aware of what role the Orana Cinema played before the arrival of Reading but didn't rule out the possibility of it showing movies again.
"We have a small cinema here, the other cinema has five screens but perhaps it could be an option. There will be a discussion of some sort but we may not make any decisions on Monday," he said.
While Reading Cinemas announced they will leave their current location in the Riverdale Shopping Centre, they are still looking at alternative locations in Dubbo and have talked to Dubbo City Council about their options.
The council has also received inquiries from developers wanting to know where a cinema could be constructed.
However the building of a new cinema would take time, which would likely mean Dubbo will be without a cinema for an extended period.
