There's stories of him smashing bowlers all over the park for as long as he's been playing cricket but there's always been one thing missing from all those entertaining and often humorous stories; a grand final appearance.
This weekend, for the first time in 25 years of cricket with his beloved Macquarie club, Green will walk out with his Blues teammates on the final day of the season as they take on minor premiers Rugby at No. 1 Oval.
It's been a long wait for the Macquarie skipper and he summed it up in perfect 'Greeny' fashion when he described what the week leading up to the decider has been like.
"It's been good, I've got a few calls and even messages from other states and blokes like Tim Armstrong and Don Nash so it's been good and it's a monkey off my back," he said.
"But I'd much rather be drinking out of that cup on Sunday night knowing that we've won it."
In other grand finals this weekend, it's a mirror image in the Pinnington Cup where minor premiers Macquarie meet Rugby at No. 2 Oval while Rugby will also feature in the Kelly Cup where they go up against RSL-Colts at No. 3 Oval.
Late yesterday afternoon, Dubbo District Cricket Association, along with Dubbo City Council, made the decision no play would be possible today in the respective grand finals. All matches will now be played as one-day fixtures on Sunday, starting at 12pm.
