Green finished unbeaten on 101 while Dan Medway made a solid 99 as the Blues were bowled out for 268 in the final over of day one in their clash with RSL-Colts at No.2 Oval.

Holding a lead of 11.98 points over Newtown in the race for third spot, the Blues were disappointed to hear their rivals had rolled CYMS cheaply before claiming first innings points, setting up a potential outright result next week.

But Green and Medway, who came together with the score 3-68 and put together a 121-run stand, put their hands up and put their side in with a chance of not only beating Colts, but making the result of the Newtown/CYMS clash irrelevant.

"I think 270-odd is a good score and Colts will have to bat well next week to chase it down," Green said.

"Our destiny is still in our own hands to an extent but CYMS haven't done us any favours really.

"But if we come out next week and bowl well and beat Colts then we will have earned our spot in the finals.

"If that's the case hopefully I can end up with seven hundreds for the year."

It was a good thing Green and Medway fired for the Blues, as the rest of the batting order struggled on a wicket which provided assistance for the bowlers.

Justin Gavin's 17 was the next highest score for Macquarie, who threatened to score an even bigger total before being pegged back late by Wes Giddings, who took 4-29 off 13 overs.

"It should have been more but if you'd said to me before play that we'd make close to 270, I would have taken it," Green said.

"But given the position we were in it was probably realistic to think we could have made our 300 but the good thing is we batted the day out.

"I'm disappointed that Dan didn't get his hundred but 99 is still a good score and will be good for his confidence."

Giddings was the pick of the Colts bowlers, however Tim Cox was again good for the RSL side, taking 3-31 off 14 overs.
