The award ceremony held at the newly created performance space at Lunar Park in East Dubbo came alive as the graduates gathered to acknowledge their achievements throughout the past 12 months.
Head of Creative Industries, Vicki Vance glowed with pride as she discussed the success of the program, which she said could be accredited to the dedication of the part time teachers involved in the program.
Brigid Palin is a part time teacher at TAFE Western who has played a vital role in the further studies of the graduates.
Mrs Palin acknowledged 2013 had been a challenge in regards to art focussed education, with a heavy reliance on part time teachers.
"Since the government cut funding for Visual Arts learning in September 2012, we've had to be very innovative," she said.
"Extensively, this is an administration course, however we have been able to re-focus the course centre around art, which is what the students wanted."
Mrs Palin ran the course through Apollo House, enabling the art projects to benefit the Apollo Estate community.
As well as creating the semi-circular performance space, the students also focussed their creative talents on a mural next to the Apollo House.
Riverbank Frank, a local Aboriginal Elder, is heavily involved in the Apollo House community activities.
"I see it as a great initiative at Apollo House," he said.
"Brigid ticks all the boxes.
" I think the most important part of the course is it acknowledges the idea of reconciliation.
" Apollo House is about community and community is us."
To show their appreciation of the Brigid's work, the students composed a poem for their dedicated teacher:
We are the Cert III Admin group
Old members and one new
We're doing art projects around town
To share with all of you.
Our teacher's name is Brigid
She's apart of our group too
She helps us out with everything
Apollo House does too.
Together we all work as one
With helping hands to spare
We hope you all enjoy our work
It's for everyone to share.
