The announcement of new interactive maps, which show approved routes for heavy vehicles operating at higher mass limits, would help drivers better plan their journeys on NSW roads.
Mr Gay said the new online resource would help operators of heavy vehicles and their employers meet the obligation of staying on approved roads.
"The interactive maps provide a great tool to ensure they [operators] are using the right roads so they don't end up damaging infrastructure," he said.
"These industry tools would make journeys safer and more efficient."
Truck Safe national manager Justin Fleming said seeing so many operators from around the district was a good indication for the industry's future standards.
He said the forum was centred on the discussion of safety, higher productivity and better access for trucks on NSW roads.
"It was very important and fantastic to see this addressed by the minister, Troy Grant and the National Road Transport Operators Association," Mr Fleming said.
He said the industry was working hard to be a lot more efficient and safer.
"And having higher productivity vehicles would deliver less trucks on the road," he said.
He said it was "really important for the whole community to support the transport industry and understand how vital it was for regional NSW and Australia".
"Dubbo is really good that way," he said.
Mr Gay said up to 420,000 trucks travel on NSW roads each day.
