LUKE Anderson's return to Dubbo basketball may only be a 12-month venture but the 18-year-old will be a big acquisition for the Rams as they look to improve in their second season back in the Waratah League competition.

Having the 200-centimetre centre on the roster will undoubtedly help the Grant Cole-coached squad overcome their biggest weakness from last season.
Time and again the Rams were made to pay for having a lack of size close to the basket, with much of the rebounding responsibility falling on Damien Reid while scoring down in the post was also difficult.
But having a genuine target inside will free up the Rams shooters, and that will be amplified if they are successful in pursuing another import with size from the United States.
Anderson's family has a connection with Dubbo Basketball as his father Brett and uncle Paul are both former Rams themselves and the Dubbo junior, who finished his schooling at The Scot's College in Sydney, admits he's looking forward to following in their footsteps.
"I played my junior basketball in Dubbo but then I went down to Sydney for school," Anderson said.
"I've been playing with the Scot's College team down there but I'm pretty happy to be back in Dubbo for a gap year and able to play with the Rams as well.
"I watched a couple of games last year and was impressed with what I saw from them in their first year back in the State League, and hopefully we'll be able to improve on what the team did last year."
Anderson is on a gap year and intends to go to university next year after spending a year in the workforce, but while his time in Rams colours will be short he intends to make the most of it.
"It's a good opportunity for me to play some senior basketball against some guys with a decent level of experience," he said.
"I haven't met Grant (Cole) yet because he's been away but he did a good job with the squad he had last year so I expect he'll be good to work with.
"Coming back and getting a chance to play for the club I was with as a junior is exciting, even if it will only be for a year."
