DUBBO residents Karen Bink and Maree Hand have been chosen as the authors of the winning design concepts for two of the rhino statues to be displayed in the central business district of Sydney and at Dubbo.

Their entries - selected from among 230 community entries - will be further developed by professional artists and applied to the fibreglass statues.
A committee including mayor of Dubbo Mathew Dickerson, deputy mayor Ben Shields, and Crs Allan Smith and Lyn Griffiths, chose the winning design concepts.
Cr Dickerson said the winning designs reflected the city's 'wild side' and 'time to' brand.
"It was a very enjoyable albeit difficult process to select two designs to pass on to artists as concepts for further development before application to the rhino statues," he said.
"The designs selected strongly connect to Dubbo's identity - the 'time to' concept that celebrates our great lifestyle, and the City's 'wild side' through its link to Taronga Western Plains Zoo."
All 230 designs will be on display at the Dubbo Visitors Information Centre mid December.
From February one of the statues will be installed in Dubbo while the other is displayed in the Sydney CBD as part of a mass public art exhibition to raise awareness and valuable funds for Taronga's world leading Black Rhino breeding program. It will then also be installed in Dubbo in May.
Meanwhile, designs have been determined for the four rhino statues that will be installed at the main entrances to Dubbo as part of the city gateway signage project.
"These designs were particularly sympathetic to the plight of the rhino," Cr Dickerson said.
"They will be applied to the statues by the winning artists and installed as part of the new City entrance signage by March 2014."
