John Byrne took 4-55 from his eight overs for Souths and Neil Motbey took three as Macquarie scored at more than five runs an over.
Byrne and Matthew Wright opened the innings with a 50-run partnership in reply and after Wright and Henry Railz departed Tom Mitchell joined Byrne to get the run chase back on track.
Together they put on 56 before Blake Jones dismissed Byrne and while Mitchell fell for 48 shortly after Scott Dwarte (33 not out) and Andrew McKittrick (44 not out) guided the Hornets home.
It was Newtown Black who claimed bragging rights in the Newtown derby on Saturday, crushing Newtown Gold by 145 runs at John McGrath 1.
Warwick Finlay fell just short of a century as he made 98 in Black's total of 270 before a team effort with the ball and a 6-29 middle-order collapse from Newtown Gold saw the Newtown Black side claim their fifth win of the season.
While Finlay's innings was the highlight for Black, Brett Wrigley (44) and Jay Kelly (68) also contributed to set the imposing total of 6-270 after their 40 overs.
At 1-40 Newtown Gold had started the innings well but in the space of nine overs it had turned to 7-69 and there was no coming back from there as Newtown Gold were all out for 125.
Adam Wheeler, Wrigley, Garry Finlay and Kieran Baker all took two wickets in the comprehensive victory.
An eighth-wicket partnership of 51 runs between Nic Karydis and Kyle Munro guided Rugby to an exciting three-wicket win over RSL Colts at Lady Cutler 1.
Four wickets from Wayne Munro and three to Craig McGrath had set up Rugby well as Colts were dismissed for just 108 but Rugby found themselves in trouble at 7-58 midway through the run chase.
But Karydis and Munro set about rebuilding the innings and stayed together until the end as Karydis finished on 34 not out and Munro was unbeaten on 26.
Wayne Cole and Matthew Devrell had earlier started well for Colts, reaching 0-48 but no batsman outside reached double figures as the Rugby bowlers worked their way through the middle and lower order.
In the run chase Rugby struggled early, with Jono Davies taking 3-21 in his opening five overs but with the pressure firmly on Karydis and Munro they answered the call and guided their side home for their fourth win in a row.
CYMS Cougars fell to their third straight loss on Saturday as South Dubbo Youth Development (YD) claimed a comfortable five-wicket win at John McGrath 2.
Zeke Spradbrow was the only Cougars batsman to fire, making a hard-hitting 67 but it wasn't enough as the men in green finished at 8-147 after their 40 overs.
Harry Edmondson and Matthew Knudsen took three wickets each before the Hornets YD set about the run chase with Mitch Cook (27) and Jonty Busch (34) setting the platform with a 67-run opening stand.
Knudsen made 34 in the middle order before retiring hurt but the damage had been done early and Edmondson remained 15 not out as the young Hornets clinched a comfortable victory inside 30 overs.
