The vacancies are expected to be seen as soon as early next year in mining, renewable energy, building and construction, children services, and health and allied health sectors.
RDA Orana chair John Walkom said the 2600 figure errs on a conservative estimate.
"These are jobs that are locked in that have already been approved to take place and replace a retiring workforce," Mr Walkom said.
He said there will be 800 new mining jobs for Mudgee, 370 new jobs for the solar farm in Nyngan, 880 for the Tomingley gold and Dubbo Zirconia mine projects, and 137 from an aging workforce for the allied health and health industries.
"In the building and construction sector, which is linked to mining and resource, there are also 1300 jobs.
"We haven't put a number on the growing children services sector yet but in total we'd be so close to this many jobs it's not funny," Mr Walkom said.
Mr Walkom said for every new job, there may be up to three jobs created and added to the workforce.
"This comes from flow on effects linked into growth, which will flow on and add more value to the Gross Regional Product.
"This will increase the income and wealth within our community and region," Mr Walkom said.
The RDA have worked with industry and Local Government Areas and other government agencies to build a workforce development strategy, which would tailor a strategy for the community.
"We're speaking to various stakeholders within industries and governments, which will help us better identify the actual skill gaps and requirements that exist within our communities to know what is needed," he said.
Mr Walkom said there is more potential for growth for the region, which stems from the state government's regional relocation grant initiative.
"$7,000 will be given to families relocating from a metropolitan area to a regional community and $10,000 will be given to required skilled workers who commit to a position in a rural area for two years," he said.
