Mr Shervashidze, who started out at Dubbo City Dance School, is back in Dubbo to dance in The Dancers Company's Don Quixote at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre.

After leaving Dubbo in 2010 to join the prestigious Australian Ballet School in Melbourne, Mr Shervashidze returned and said he was happy to be back and excited to see the new theatre.

“This would be the first time I’ve performed in front of my home audience since joining the Australian Ballet School, and it’s a great opportunity to gain professional experience in the ballet industry,” he said.

The Dancers Company, the regional touring arm of the Australian Ballet, has so far toured throughout regional Victoria and will head to Tamworth on Friday, finishing in Toowoomba, Queensland on August 21.

Based on the famous Spanish tale, the colourful and cheeky rendition, as described by dancer Kirby Selchow, tells the story of the knight Don Quixote on a quest to find his lost love.

Along the way he crosses paths with young lovers Kitri and Basilio in a tale of fun and mischief the whole family will enjoy.

“The show is cheeky, playful and energetic, and fun to to be in character,” Miss Selchow said.

Fellow dancer Sophie Zoricic said she played a street dancer in the show, and was in her second year touring with the Dancers Company.

“It provides a good opportunity for Australian Ballet dancers to get out on stage, and offers experience which benefits us,” she said.

Both Mr Shervashidze and Miss Selchow have one year remaining until they graduate from the Australian Ballet School, where Miss Zoricic is in her final year.

The Dancers Company’s Don Quixote began last night and will conclude tonight at 7.30pm, with tickets available at www.drtcc.com.au.
